CHARACTER SUMMARY
Son Goku is the main character in the Dragonball series. The
name "Son Goku" is taken from a Chinese mythological figure.
Goku is a member of the fighting race the Saiyan (Saiya-jin)
from planet Vegita. He, like all Saiyans, has a simian tail. With
it he can transform into a large ferocious ape and become very
destructive. As an infant he was sent on a mission to help
condition earth for take over, but a childhood head injury made
him forget his primary objective. Thus becoming the gentle and
sweetly innocent person we see now. As a child Goku had his
tail removed and is no longer able to transform into an ape.
Goku's strength lies in his passion to fight and to be the best
fighter. He strives on fighting strong opponents. When it seems
that Goku is beat he always comes up with something to fend
off defeat. He was trained by great teachers such as Mutenroshi
(or Kame-sennin, the turtle master), Sennin (that cute chubby
cat with the sensu beans), and Kaio-sama (King Ki). When
Goku matures (at around age 16-17) he marries Ox King's
daughter Chi Chi. Together they have two children: Son Gohan
and Son Goten.
During the battle of Freeza, Goku was the first to inherited the
ability to change into the legendary Super Saiyan. Having
always the challenge of fighting stronger opponents, it was
typical of Goku to stay ahead of everyone. What is strange about
Goku is his ability to outwit and befriend his enemy. Some of his
past enemies later become his ally. He does not bother nor care
about leaders of Earth, politics, and power. His only concern is
the righteousness of humanity (and all other races for that
matter) and fighting strong opponents.
TECHNIQUES
Kame-Hama-Ha: Loosely translated into "the technique of the turtle master!"
The technique that was created by Mutenroshi (The turtle master). It is a large
KI blast that comes out of cupped hands which is started by charging the KI
from behind then releasing the energy towards the opponent.
Genkidama:Translated to "life ball" or "energy bomb". A progressive energy
ball collected from all life on earth.
Kaio-ken: A technique created by Kaio-sama (King Ki). This move is a
temporary boost of power. When used the person gains a large amount of
energy and speed.
Shunkanido (Instantaneous Movement): Taught to Goku by the Yardarratan
(Yardaratto-jin), a strange technique which enable Goku to move from one
place to another in a instant. Goku needs to hone in on another person for him
to be able to use it.
Zanzoken: Another technique created by the turtle master. The person who
uses this can move at great speeds and leave after images of themself behind
while attacking from another position.
INTERESTING NOTES ON SON GOKU
The name Son Goku is his full name, with Son being his last name and Goku
being his first.
The birth given name to Son Goku is "Kakarroto or Kakarot". This is his Saiyan
name. His grandfather gave him his current name when he discovered him.
The name Kakarroto is a play in the word carrot.

CHARACTER SUMMARY
Vegita is the prince of all Saiyans (Saiya-jins). He was born an
elite Saiyan and has the ability to become a Super Saiyan.
Along with Nappa, Raddiz and Goku (Kakarot) he is one of the
four survivors of his home planet "Vegita"*. The Saiyans were
part of Freeza's organization and used as tools to take over and
prepare planets for sale. Freeza took Vegita as a child and sent
him out on special missions. While out fulfilling one of those
missions, his home world was abruptly destroyed (this happened
when he was a child). As Freeza's henchmen, Vegita was
regarded as one of the more powerful soldiers in the galaxy. He
always knew that Freeza destroyed planet Vegita and plotted to one day overthrow the
vile ruler.
At birth Vegita was calculated to have the highest class as a
Saiyan. That perception changed when he met one warrior he
could not defeat: Son Goku. As a man with great pride in being
the best Saiyan he couldn't accept the fact that Goku, a low
class Saiyan, was always one step ahead of him. He always try
to best him in combat and this has been his obsession ever
since. With his pride and huge ego he is always trying to show
that he is the most powerful in the universe.
Vegita is at heart evil, and is the "bad apple" of the Z team. He
lacks morals (in the beginning anyway) and can come off as
being obnoxious. After some time however, he changes and
develops a conscience. Although he would never admit it, he
does care about his friends and family. He sometimes reveals that
he thrives on his emotions. Even though he shows that he hates
Goku with a passion, he really respects him and maybe even likes
him... a little. He and Bulma eventually have two children: Trunks
and Bra.
TECHNIQUES
Big Bang Attack: Vegita's first technique as a Super Saiyan. Its a huge energy
bolt emitted from his palm that is very powerful. Vegita holds out one arm and
flatten his palm forward towards the opponent.
Galick-Ho: An imitation to Mutenroshi's Kamehameha. He powers up the
energy then releases it with both hands forward.
INTERESTING NOTES ON VEGITA
The name Vegita is a play in the word vegetable.
*In theory, there are 7 Saiyan survivors: Tarus from movie3, Brolli and his father from
movie8. Why do I state that there are only four surviving Saiyans? Again in theory
movie3 and 8 could have never happened. So, in theory those Saiyans could never
exists. Then again you could argue otherwise!
PICCOLO

Goku's intentions of staying on planet Namek with Freeza
before it's destruction.
CHARACTER SUMMARY
Piccolo is the reborn Devil himself. Many years ago, A Namekian
was sent to earth in fear that a comet would soon hit the planet
Namek. The man we know as Kami-sama (which translates into
god or the god of earth) wanted to take the place of the watcher
of earth. But in order for him to do that he had to purge the small
amount of evil that was within him. When Kami-sama did this his
spirit split into two. Thus, from the expulsion of Kami's evil side,
was the birth of an evil entity called Piccolo-Diamao (Piccolo the
demon). Piccolo-Diamao was evil and destructive causing cities to
disappear. Eventually this evil being came across Goku (when he was young). They
fought an epic battle, with Goku killing Piccolo-Diamao. On his dying breath he spat
out an egg which hatch into the Piccolo in the Z team.
Young Piccolo was evil like his father. A native of the planet
Namek, he has the ability to regrow parts of his body that he lost. He
and Goku were enemies as teenagers and fought many times.
However when he was forced to train Goku's son Gohan before Vegita
and Nappa were to come to earth, a different side of Piccolo is
revealed and we see that he is not entirely evil after all. Gohan's
innocence and friendliness help Piccolo become a different person
changing him to be on the side of good instead of evil. Further in the
story Piccolo develops a paternal affection for Gohan, protecting him.
During the Android saga, Kami-sama nulls on the decision to remerge
with his "evil" counter part noting that Piccolo has good in his heart. Kami eventually
decides to do so forever putting him on the side of good and fighting with the Z team.
TECHNIQUES
Chobakuretsumaha: Piccolo gathers power between his hands in front of his
stomach, then releases the blast.
Kyoken: A technique where Piccolo can grow in size and become larger.
Makankosappo: Piccolo's famous technique where he utilizes his two fingers
to form two penetrating shots: one bolt going strait ahead and the other
twirling around the strait beam.
Mystic Attack: The ability to extend his arms and legs. He uses this attack to
grab his opponent and then kicks or punches them when nearby.
INTERESTING NOTES ON PICCOLO
Piccolo (and all Namekians for that matter) never eat, he drinks water however.
The Namekians are asexual meaning there are no male/female parts in their
species.
The word Piccolo is also a name for a small flute.
TRUNKS

CHARACTER SUMMARY
There are two Trunks in the Dragonball world. One from the
alternate timeline, future Trunks (Mira Trunks) and one from the
actual timeline, young Trunks (Goku referred to this Trunks as
Chibi Trunks). This profile focuses on the Trunks from the alternate
future.
In the alternate timeline, all of the Z team members were killed
because of two destructive androids, except for Goku who never
gets to fight because of a heart infection. The only survivors were
Son Gohan and Trunks. Trunks is the son of Vegita and Bulma.
Gohan trained him to become stronger and to reach the level of Super Saiyan. One
day the androids appeared and, Gohan confident that he can beat them, had enough
of the destruction. By protecting the inexperienced Trunks, Gohan knocked him
unconscious and fought them alone. Gohan is powerful, but is killed nevertheless.
Trunks grieves deeply and vows to one day avenge Gohan's death. Meanwhile Bulma
builds a time machine for Trunks so he could go back in the past to find Son Goku.
She believes that if he were alive, things would have been different.
Trunks comes to the past twenty years from the future in a
effort to change history. Much like his father, he is hard and
aggressive. But unlike his father he is very polite and has
values. He thinks in conventional ways and is very civilized
when making decisions. While Trunks was young, he grew up
in awe of the father he never knew. Trunks was always anxious
about meeting his father. He was both impressed and
disappointed once they. During the battle of Cell however,
Vegita showed emotion upon seeing the death of his son (that
may be subject to debate for all you hard core nuts!!) Vegita then screamed with
passion and attacked Cell.
The Z team revived him after Cell was defeated. He decided to return to his
timeline once the danger was over. Trunks had trained in that time so much that his
power surpassed the two androids in his time. When he returned to the future, he not
only took with him the skills to defeat the androids but also the knowledge of the father
he loved so much.
TECHNIQUES
Buring Attack: First Trunks places his hands in front, then he does some
strange hand techniques. His hands are then placed forward again and a blast
is released.
INTERESTING NOTES ON TRUNKS
The actual Trunks from this timeline (Chibi Trunks) never reaches the power
level of Future Trunks. That may be because Chibi Trunks lived in peaceful
times, while Future Trunks had to battle it out with the Androids.
The name Trunks is a play on the Japanese word boy's gym shorts.
GOHAN

CHARACTER SUMMARY
Goku and Piccolo team up in an effort to save Gohan from the
Saiyan Radditz. The three battle it out in a frenzy. The
advantage that Raddiz has over Goku and Piccolo, however,
is too much for the both of them. Eventually Raddiz beats and
tortures Goku. Gohan hearing his father's cries, gets enraged
and shows his true powers. This is where we see Gohan's
powers for the first time.
Son Gohan is Goku's first son (sorry). He is a good natured boy
and is polite to in every way. Like his father, he has a heart of
Gold. But unlike his father, he does not like to fight. Gohan is
mixed human and Saiyan, which makes him inherently more
powerful than his father. He probably has the most potential over
all of the Z warriors to be the strongest. But because he does not
have the passion to fight, he never reaches his true potential. This
can prove to be a weakness for him in battle. At one time he was
trained by Piccolo who he looks up to and respects. In the battle of
Cell, He displayed power and speed more than anyone. Gohan
was the first to achieve the level of Super Saiyan 2. Eventually he grows up to be
studious and intelligent, mainly because his mother is always on him to study. Gohan
marries Videl, his high school classmate, and they both have one daughter: Pan.
TECHNIQUES
Masenko: Gohan powers up with his hands on top pf his head, with one hand
in front of the other. After the blast is powered up he places his hands forward
and releases the blast.
INTERESTING NOTES ON GOHAN
The name Gohan means rice or meal in Japanese.
Other charaters
Krillin
Son Goku's best friend who trained with him under Mutenroshi
(the turtle master) while they were young. As the years past by
the gap between them stretched and Goku surpasses him. A
Buddhist monk by choice, he is considered by many to be the
most powerful human on Earth (eventually he grows hair). Later
in the series he marries android number 18 (yes its true!) and
have a daughter named Maron.
Bulma
The second character introduced in Dragonball, Bulma is smart and
witty but also goofy. Like her father (the founder of Capsule
Corporation) she is very handy with technology. Sometimes she
comes off as selfish and irritating and can get on peoples nerves.
Eventually she and Vegita "pair up" and have two children: Trunks
and Bra
Yamucha
At first Yamucha was a thief and one of Goku's enemies. But as
the story went on he begins to fall in love with Bulma (early in
the series they go out together) and thus he starts to develop a
friendship with Goku. He is the weakest member of the Z team.
Chi Chi
The strongest wife in the universe! Chi Chi is the wife of Son Goku.
She met Goku when they were young. At that time Goku made a
promise to marry her and she does not forget this. When Chi Chi
and Goku meet up again as teenagers Goku doesn't recognize
her. Angry that Goku does not remember her, she enters herself in
a fighting tournament Goku participated in and fights him before
letting him know who she really is. Goku naturally wins the match and by the end of
the day they are husband and wife. Chi Chi and Goku have two children: Son Gohan
and Son Goten.
Ox King
The fabled "Gyuumaoh", the Ox king is Chi Chi's father. He
appeared early in the Dragonball series. The turtle master knew Ox
King as the one who trained with Goku's Grandfather, Gohan.
Kami-sama
Piccolo's spiritual opposite and the Watcher of Earth (literally god).
Before he became god, he had to expel the small evil that was
within him. When he did this the evil that split from him came to be
known as Piccolo's Parent. If Piccolo is in danger and dies
Kami-sama dies as well. They cannot exist without each other.
Kami-sama is part of an alien race called the Namekians
(Namek-sei-jin).
Kaio-sama
Kaio-sama is the fun loving comedian who is the watcher of the the
north galexy. He is one of Goku's trainers and taught him the
Kaio-Ken, a powerful technique. Later in the series we see that
there are other Deities that watch different parts of the universe.
Kaio is just one of many Deities who appear in the series.
Mister Satan
The comic relief of Dragonball. Mr.Satan first appeared in
Dragonball Z as Earth's so called world champion. He tried to fight
Cell in the Cell tournament only to be flicked away silly. Many
people on earth believed that he defeated Cell and that he is the
most powerful. Satan realizes that he is not the strongest when he
bumps into the Z team and tries so hard to protect up his image
during the series.
Videl
Mister Satan's daughter, and Gohan's one time classmate. During
Gohan's first years in high school Videl tried in vain to figure out
who the Great Saiyaman is. Eventually she figures out Gohan is
the Great Saiyaman and asks him to teach her how to fly. Videl is
more powerful than her father. She fights for justice as one of the
cities great crime fighters. By the end of the series Gohan and
Videl get married and have one child: Pan.
Son Goten
The second child of Son Goku and Chi Chi. Goten exhibits
great potential when becoming a Super Saiyan at an early
age. Goten was trained by Gohan and has a bearing
resemblance of his father. He and Trunks become good friends
and are always causing trouble between the two of them. Goten
is a good natured boy, a little naive perhaps and only gets in trouble because Trunks
spites them to.
Young (Chibi) Trunks
The first child of Vegita and Bulma. Young (Chibi) Trunks is very
different from future (Mira) Trunks. He is a little mischievous, and
has a bad attitude much like his father. Although he means well
most of the time, he always gets himself and Goten in trouble.
Chibi Trunks never reaches his potential because of the fact that
he lives in times of peace.
Mutenroshi (The turtle master)
The old master of martial arts. Mutenroshi has strange taste in clothing
and a sex crazed mind. He trains Goku an Krillin and teaches them
everything he knows. He lives in a house on a small island with his
turtle friend (Ume-gama).
Bad guys
Cell (Seru)
The ultimate artificial being created by Dr.Gero. Cell was
created with a combination of cells from all the greatest
fighters in the universe: Goku, Vegita, Freeza, Piccolo and
more. In order to become a perfect being Cell needed to
merge with Android 17 and 18. At the time Cell hatched
however, the androids were no where to be found. His
solution was to travel to the past in Trunks time machine to
find the androids. Cell goes thru 2 transformations before
attaining his perfect form.
Freeza
The evil slumlord, who rules over an empire of mercenaries.
Freeza uses his vast army of fighters to take over and prepare
planets for sale. He is responsible for the demise of many
planets including Planet Vegita (home world of the Saiyans).
He has four different forms with the final form being his actual
one.
Majin Buu
300 years ago an evil magician named Bibidi created the
Majin Buu, a demon who's intent is pure evil and destructive
Bibidi could not fully control
Buu at first. Eventually Buu killed all but one of the Kaio-shins
(the north Kaio-shin survived). The east and west Kaio-shins
were easily defeated. The south Kaio-shin put up a good fight
but was absorbed by Buu at the last minute. This caused Buu to
inherit the physical traits of the south Kaio-shin. Buu then
absorbed the master Kaio-shin (Di-Kaio-shin) and transformed
into the fat Buu. Since master
Kaio-shin was kind, gentle and fat, Buu was watered down a bit and easier to control.
Majin Buu was later resurrected by his son Babidi. Buu goes thru many transformations
including returning to his first state (the Buu pictured on the bottom).
Brolli
The "Legendary Super Saiyan". At birth Brolli was classified to
have an extremely high class rating. In fear that one day Brolli
would take over, King Vegita (Vegita's father) banished Brolli and
his father from the Saiyan clan (by killing them). They were both
left for dead before Planet Vegita's demise. Brolli and his father
were able to survive the planet's destruction however. He was born
on the same day as Goku. Because of this Brolli has a competitive
hatred for Goku. Brolli made appearances in Movie 8, 10 and 11.
Raddiz
Goku's older Brother and one of the surviving Saiyans. He came
to Earth to check on the status Goku (Kakarrot) who was sent to
prepare the planet for take over. He was the weakest of all
remaining Saiyans.
Babidi
The evil magician who resurrected the Majin Buu. Babidi is the
son of Bibidi and has magical powers to 'charm' fighters with evil
in their heart into becoming his slave. At one time he tired to
charm Vegita only to find that he could never control someone
with so much pride!
Dabura
The leader of the underworld's demons and the Prince of
darkness, Dabura was known to be the 'Devil' himself. Charmed
by Babidi, he is the primary fighter in Babidi's legion.
Nappa
Nappa is the person that came to earth with vegeta the first time. He has no hair and was an eazy win for goku. Was one of the last surviving Sayains
